I. BASIC VIETNAMESE (3 month intensive course and 6-month short term course)

1. Training duration:

a. Intensive course

- Number of credits: 02 (60 periods, including 50 periods of in-class instruction and 10 periods of field trip) 

Mid-course test: 1

End-of-course test: 1

Field trip: 01 or 02 (with lecturer’s guidance)

b. Short-term course

- Number of credits: 04 (120 periods, including 100 periods of in-class instruction and 20 periods of field trip)

Mid-course test: 2

End-of-course test: 1

Field trip: 02 or 03 (with lecturer’s guidance)

2. Teaching Content

Basic communication skills with simple sentence patterns and topics

3. Textbook

Textbook by Vietnam National Hanoi University

+ Intensive course: Communicative Vietnamese level A – volume 1

+ Short-term course: Communicative Vietnamese level A  - volume 1 & 2

4. Field trip

Students will visit scenic spots, historical sites, traditional handicraft village, explore Vietnamese culture and cuisines, communicate with local people to practice communicative sentence patterns and related topics.

5. Form of Recognition

- Certificate of completion only or Certificate of completion with transcript

 

II. ADVANCED VIETNAMESE (6-month short-term course or 1-3 year course)

1. Training duration

Based on students’ need to determine appropriate training duration

2. Teaching content

- Developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through sentence patterns, situations, topics

- Enhancing grammar and translation skills.

- Introducing Vietnamese culture and history through the lessons.

3. Textbook

Textbooks including six volumes by Vietnam National University – HCMC and supplementary materials compiled by the lecturers;

4. Field trip

Students will visit scenic spots, historical sites, traditional handicraft village, explore Vietnamese culture and cuisines, etc. to get more understanding about language and culture to write final report after the field trip.

5. Form of Recognition

Certificate of completion only or Certificate of completion with transcript

 

III. VIETNAMESE LANGUAGE OF SPECIFIC TOPICS

1. Training duration

Numer of credits: 02 (60 periods, including 50 periods of in-class instruction and 10 periods of field trip)

Mid-course test: 1

End-of-course test: 1

Field trip: 01 or 02 (with lecturer’s guidance)

2. Teaching Content

Based on learners’ needs to set up appropriate specific training course such as Business Vietnamese, Vietnamese for Tourisms, Vietnamese for banking etc.

3. Textbook

Textbook for the course is compiled and developed by lecturers, with the assessement of department’s in-charge section

4. Field trip

Appropriate destination for field trip is selected according to each specific topic.

5. Form of recognition

Certificate of completion with transcript

 

IV. VIETNAMESE LANGUAGE AS A SECOND FOREIGN LANGUAGE (for undergraduate and Master students)

1. Training duration

One semester: 02 credits (60 periods, including 50 periods of in-class instruction and 10 periods of field trip)

Mid-term test: 1

End-of-course: 1

Field trip: 01 (with lecturer’s guidance)

2. Teaching content

- Focusing on four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing

- In final semester: focusing on special topics related to the major

3. Textbook:

Textbooks by VNU- Hanoi and VNU- Ho Chi Minh City

4. Field trip

Students will visit scenic spots, cultural and historical sites, practise communicating with local people, etc.

V. VIETNAMESE LANGUAGE BACHELOR PROGRAMME

According to the college’s bachelor degree programme
